Membership Opportunities and Community Access!

Our facility includes a 19-acre pond for fishing as well as swimming and boating on the weekends in July and August (only when guards are on duty). Our trails provide great opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and nature exploration. Picnicking, spending time with your family, and relaxing is strongly encouraged. The Mama Cass playscape and our 80-foot Charette Super Slide provide lots of fun and excitement for all ages. The YMCA Camp Sloper Outdoor Center is available for daytime use only. All members and guests must remain off the property during day camp hours, Monday-Friday, 6:30am-5:30pm (Last week of June and all of July & August).

 

In order to access the YMCA Camp Sloper Outdoor Center Monday-Saturday, you must hold current membership. YMCA Camp Sloper is open to Southington and Cheshire residents on Sundays for our "Community Day". 

Property hours are from dawn until dusk.

 

Membership Opportunities:

  • Southington or Cheshire Community YMCA Membership: As a full member of the Southington Community YMCA, your membership privileges are extended to YMCA Camp Sloper.
  • Outdoor Center Membership: For those who only want access to the YMCA Camp Sloper Outdoor Center, we offer an Outdoor Center Membership for an annual fee. The Outdoor Center Membership entitles you to all of the membership opportunities listed below (but no access to the 29 High Street facility). *This membership does not apply towards receiving the "member" rates for programs at YMCA Camp Sloper (Day Camp, April Vacation Camp, Fun Days, Rentals, etc.) All YMCA Camp Sloper Outdoor Center memberships expire annually on December 31.

YMCA Camp Sloper Outdoor Center Rules and Regulations

  • The YMCA Camp Sloper Outdoor Center is an alcohol, drug and smoke-free facility.
  • All memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Please be caring and respectful to all other members.
  • Discard all trash in proper containers.
  • Please keep off of waterfronts when lifeguards are not on duty.
  • Motorized vehicles are prohibited (ATV’s, snowmobiles, dirt bikes, etc).
  • Please park vehicles in the lots only; keep all vehicles off the grass and access roads at all times.
  • The Sloper Fishing Season runs in conjunction with the state-wide timelines.
  • Fishing is a catch & release program and is prohibited from boats, canoes, waterfronts, docks and/or on the ice.
  • The YMCA Camp Sloper Outdoor Center is available for use from sunrise to sunset.
  • All members and guests must remain off of the property during day camp hours, Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 5:30 PM (last week of June, all of July and August).

Rules & Regulations for Dog Owners The rules stated for dog owners will be strictly enforced. Dog owners must follow all rules stated above as well as the following:

  • Dogs must be kept on a leash and under control at all times.
  • Dogs may NOT be off their leash in the front field area.
  • Dog owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dog.

 

Family/Group Use at YMCA Camp Sloper has certain policies and procedure to make sure the property is not over-used. Although members are allowed to utilize the grounds as part of their membership, any group of members and/or guests that is over 8 people must contact the camp office about the use of pavilions or picnic tables.  Pavilions are available for rental by groups ranging from 8-200 people or more, but must be contracted through the camp office.  If you would like to have a gathering at YMCA Camp Sloper, please check out our Facility Rentals information. 

Memorial Forest

YMCA Camp Sloper has set aside an area on the property to remember loved ones who have passed on. The Memorial Forest is located on the southeast corner of the property.
